Pre-race routine:

Wake up @ 5:30. PB&J on white.
Event warmup:

Casual stretching and tried to ensure that I was nice and relaxed going into the swim.
Swim
  • 07m 53s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall the swim felt good. I was really surprised at how slow it was. I felt really good the entire swim. Passed a couple of people. Had to stop a couple of times to allow swimmers to get ahead in tight spots. I was happy with my endurance for the swim. I was able to swim "pretty" fast.
What would you do differently?:

Not surer what I could have done differently. I passed the person immediately in front of me by the 50 yrd mark. Probably should have tries to increase my pace at that point. Was concentrating on breathing and cadence.
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

T1 continues to be slow. I really need to speed this up especially since I am not putting on socks. I think this will also become faster once I start wearing a full tri suit. No shirt to put on.
What would you do differently?:

Get a tri suit.
Bike
  • 48m 32s
  • 14 miles
  • 17.31 mile/hr
Comments:

Transitioned smoothly into the bike. Felt comfortable the entire ride. Was able to get to a comfortable pace and cadence and rode without much stress. My heartrate remained low. Was able to maintain speed pretty well on the climbs.
What would you do differently?:

My cycling has become a sore subject. I am totally disappointed with how slow I was on the bike. I can not blame the wind because we all faced the same conditions. I really think that it's my bike. I really need to look at getting a tri bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

T2 was good. Was able to get going quickly. No issues.
What would you do differently?:

This was pretty good. No changes.
Run
  • 21m 23s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

Strong run to make up for bad cycle time. The run course was really comfortable. Didn't expend too much energy on the way out. Probably too it too easy. Sure I didn't run a negative split for this race. I need to practice running 5k's more.
What would you do differently?:

Run harder from the start. I should have been able to break a 20:30 5k on this course.
Post race
Warm down:

Little stretching. Powerade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing.

Event comments:

Love this course and race. It's an excellent venue.
