Run
Comments: Even without the cold weather, the course was hilly and brutal, but I think in the 2nd half of the race, I was stronger. But the two-three hills prior to the top of Urish hill did their job and sapped a lot of strength and will power from me and took a while to get it back. Was a good run for my first half, going to be doing more of these in the future as well as a full marathon! What would you do differently?: Keep running more miles and get more long runs in. On those long runs, put the hills on the back side to work on the strength for late in the run Post race
Warm down: I hobbled around for a bit, sat down to compose myself and chatted with Ricky, a fellow Soldier. Walked back to the car, changed out of my wet tops and put on dry stuff. Wish I would have brought another pair of shoes to wear, just to relax a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just get more miles and not worry too much about the cold. Yeah, it sucks, but what you going to do but HTFU! Event comments: Sunflower Strider put on a good race, but with a few things they couldn't control, it was still a fun day! Just wish I would have gotten the little "kansas" shaped medal instead of the round one, but eh, it is all good. And love the socks! Last updated: 2011-12-26 12:00 AM

Drove the hour to Topeka to pick up my packet, then down to the finish line, hopped a bus back to the start line.
Stretched and walked around, jogged a bit and went outside to get ready for the cold
