Total Time = 1h 27m 38s
Overall Rank = /1400
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 11/32
Pre-race routine:

set up bike, went to bathroom, drank 1/2 bottle gatorade
Event warmup:

not much - ran out of time after waiting for bathroom. Had one Gu about 1/2 hour before swim start
Swim
  • 09m 10s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 17s / 100 meters
Comments:

I really felt like I was pushing it so my time was disappointing. I was surprised that I was 8th in my age group. I'm usually much lower.
What would you do differently?:

I felt like I did everything I could during the race. Obviously, need to work more on stroke effeciency for the long term.
Transition 1
  • 03m 20s
Comments:

Couldn't get feet into shoes easily. Shoes kept turning over.
Bike
  • 44m 11s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 16.88 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt I was going faster than 16 but the time tells the story. I was actually worried I might be going too fast so slowed down some during the second lap.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I would have liked to have gone faster but I had something left for the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Got off bike OK but then shoe drug along ground and had to stop to clear it. Then I went down the wrong aisle to rack my bike but probably only lost a few seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Get off smoother and know exactly where my rack is.
Run
  • 29m 8s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a great run for me. I had a Gu about 1/2 mile into the run and I think it really helped later on.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - keep working on the bricks - they're helping alot.
Post race
Warm down:

Met with Terri and Sandy and walked bike back to car. Would have liked to do more stretching.

Event comments:

Good race overall and good one for beginners. Well organized especially considering the number of participants. The two loops on the bike were a little crowded and there was a longish wait to start the swim but other than that, I thought it was an above average race.
