Run
Comments: i kept a steady pace nearly the whole time. (no spurts of speed). started out about 10-12 min/mile the whole 6 miles in the park, mostly due to the pace of the other under. This is faster than I usually run. I kept up under a 12 minute mile the whole race. ONly stopped to walking speed to drink water. I drank a sip of water at nearly every station, one or two gatorades which are disgusting, went through a package of cliff shot blocks, and i had a power bar gel that was offered at 7 miles, delicious. What would you do differently?: MAKE SURE TO PACK SOMETHING TO EAT TO RECOVER. As a vegan and gluten free there is never anything in the bag i can eat. Pretzels, fruit, nuts, protein. Post race
Warm down: kept walking. What limited your ability to perform faster: didn't do speed workouts much and it showed. Event comments: Central park was beautiful and it sure was fun running at times square. Excellent post race celebration, and it seemed to have a lot of fun things and discounts for participants. as the mom of a 4 month old I couldn't' partake in any of this but if you were running with friends this looks like a great way to spend a sunday in march!
