Swim
Comments: The run into transition was hard. It was in sand for about 150m, then up hill. Pretty tough. The chop wasn't too bad, but it was hard work heading out to the first turn. After that the swim was pretty cruisy. What would you do differently?: I need to settle into my rhythm quicker. I find it takes a while to get into that rhythm, but once im in it I swim really well. Comments: Had a chat with Mel who was next to me in Transition while i was there. Was a bit of fun. Need to learn to get on my bike with the shoes in the pedals cause I think this would make the run to the mount line a bit quicker. What would you do differently?: Not much. Bike
Comments: The legs burned going up the litlte hills, but overall i felt really good. I had a gel just after the turnaround to get me through the tough part of the run. Felt fast on teh bike. What would you do differently?: push harder. Transition 2
Comments: Got stuck behind this dude who was a bit slow, and for once that annoyed me. At least i usually keep left. What would you do differently?: Need to build confidence to get off bike more smoothly. I was smooth today but not getting off like a pro. Run
Comments: Did the first km in 5:10. Not sure what the rest was couldn't think that quick to be honest. For once i was passing people which made me feel awesome about myself. Don't usually pass anyone on the run. What would you do differently?: Keep pushing harder. Love knowing I'm getting more confidence with the run part of the triathlon. Post race
Warm down: Walk around race area. Sucked in a lot of water and 2 cups of gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: My mind. I am very unaware of my ability to go hard. At the end i still feel like I can do more. I want to cross the line and be aware that there is nothing else i can give. Event comments: Loved every moment of it. It was nice starting with my friends, but will be interesting to compare my time with others in my age group to see how far I have come. I took 11mins off my PB for a race sprint distance. Woke up at 4:45. Had breakfast of champions..Toast with Jam. Got to race around 6. Did warm up then racked bike in transition. Next time i think I will take a second pair of runners so I can do the ride warm up, rack my bike then head for my run. Had my red bull around 7:00 then had my gel around 7:15.
