Swim
Comments: this swim SUCKED - no other way to describe it. 91/101 I need to get serious about the swim...mind was playing games with me...as I rounded the first buoy i kept thinking i would not make it, then force myself to get back to shore w/o drowwning...once there I would give it another shot and once out, I couldn't just give up in front of my kids. This was the worst swim I ever had. Felt restricted and hunched by my wetsuit - needed more practice on the pool and some with the suit. What would you do differently?: SWIM in the pool = train more. Transition 1
Comments: great T1 I don't even remember feeling that tired while running thru T1 What would you do differently?: nothing different Bike
Comments: great effort. went really hard and passed a bunch of people. Pushed hard and climbed up to 42 after a 91 place swim. What would you do differently?: more hills in training Transition 2
Comments: great T2, quick and smooth What would you do differently?: do a recon on the run and plan for socks or sockless - all the dust got me some blisters Run
Comments: Pace started slow but gained speed up towards the middle and stayed but slowed down again between miles 4 and 5. Speeding it up for mile 6 to the finish line. What would you do differently?: need to do more specific base and speed work Post race
Warm down: cooled off at the finish line while gathering with other club members - I was the last FTC member to finish. Drink more liquids. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training, over confidence inthe swim and lack of specific training focus Event comments: i like the venue and also expected more athletes but Ok for a first time. Everyone in my club did well. RD should have made us more aware of rooming alternatives near venue. Trips back & forth to hotel really brought a lot of people's negativity pre-race. Other than that, I loved the clean lake, traffic free roads but not so much the loose sand trail. Last updated: 2012-01-03 12:00 AM

4AM alarm, protein shake and hydration thru 630AM. Setup T and chatted with my other club members.
Stretched, hydrated and applied vaseline in those areas...where the wetsuit could rub, like the neck and arms.
