Swim
Comments: My swim was ok. My right goggle got hit and leaked a little water in but I just kept going. What would you do differently?: Nothing I can think of. Transition 1
Comments: Took time to dry off feet and put socks on to prevent blisters, which slowed down T1 a little but otherwise was nice and smooth. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Kept to my power goal of 230 avg. watts, and I'm not sure I could have gone much harder than that. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: in and out, used regular running shoes with laces since i can't seem to find any elastic laces that don't give me blisters. What would you do differently?: nothing. Run
Comments: My focused run training has started to show in my races. I was very happy with the result. My calf started to cramp a little in the first mile or so but i just ran through it, kept cadence high and HTFU. What would you do differently?: nothing, this was a great race all around for me. Post race
Warm down: walked around a little bit, chatted with my parents, drank some water and ate a banana. ate a hot dog and had a coke after a bit once I cooled down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Reduced swim training, though it did not make a huge difference. Event comments: This was one of my best races so far. I can't think of anything I could have done to change the results. Last race of the season so it is time to take a few weeks off before diving into training for next year. Woke up at 4:15, made coffee and ate a blueberry muffin. Got to the race site early, set up my transition area, picked up my packet and got marked. waited in line for the port-a-jons and took it easy. Had half a can of Mt. Dew before walking down to the swim start.
Did some light stretching in transition and then a short swim warmup in my wetsuit just before the start.
