Definitely shorter than last year's swim course - the times alone reinforce that last year's was quite long. Solid swim for me; no issues. The time is tough to compare because the split includes the 0.4 mile run to T1.

I have no idea how long this bike course is. Half of the Piranha website says 16.0 miles, the other half says 17.5 miles. My bike computer usually says around 16.6 miles. Regardless, I was over 20mph, which is solid for me, and a bit faster than last year.

OK, so I KNOW the run was marked longer than last year because the turnaround was in a different spot. Weird. I always like this run because it is short enough that I can actually hold people off.

Event comments:

I like this event - the balance of more swimming and less running plays to my strengths (and is, in my opinion, a more "fair" balance for a triathlon than the traditional distances). Finished 2nd in age group which was exciting - first time with an AG podium. Overall a solid performance but not spectacular. Time was down a bit from last year, but mostly due to a shorter swim.
