Comments: Knowing I was going to race the 10K just after this race (Double Down), I held back just a bit. I was wearing my Spira Stinger XLT shoes for the first time in a race and they felt great. I was at or near the front the entire race, and placing 6th in my AG (out of 33) was a new experience for me. I was consistent in my pace throughout, so I had no let down nor burst of speed at the end. What would you do differently?: Nothing - this was a fine race and pace for what I had planned. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and stretched a bit to await the start of the 10K, and watched more of the finishers comes across the line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Event comments: Runner's Den puts on some good, smaller races, and I like the fact that this one is close to my house so I can just walk/run to the venue and run by my neighborhood where my family can cheer me on. Normal training day warm up for me. Light stretching and a standard breakfast of a wheat bagel with PB, Nutella & Honey with G2 and a 5hr energy. The race is about 1.5 mi from home so I ran there to warm up.
Run to the race (1.5mi) at about a 9min/mi pace. Stretched before the race more to stay loose.
