Run
Comments: I seeded myself in the middle of the first wave. The first few miles went by very fast and I was feeling pretty good keeping the miles at about 8:30. I felt I could pick it up but held back telling myself to wait to try to pick it up until I was at 8-miles. Glad I did because at that point the wind had picked up and was blowing in my face. The last 5-miles were slower than the first five but I think this was more due to running in to the wind than me running out of gas. What would you do differently?: really I think the race went pretty well even tough I missed my goal time. My training was not as consistent as I would have liked as I had to take some time off to nurse and injury as well as missing several days of running and a key long training run while taking a family vacation. Post race
Warm down: I stopped and it felt good to be finished. Walked a bit and had some water. Then went to get some food...a breakfast burrito and a cheeseburger. The temperature seemed to have dropped and the wind had picked up. Not really a good day to hang out so I jumped on the light rail and headed back to Littleton. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inconsistent training. Event comments: This was my first Platte River Half and it is a very well run event. I would have rated it a 5 if not for two things: With all the microbrews in Denver and they have Michelob Ultra... :( I would prefer to not have to drive to Littleton the day before the race for packet pick-up Pretty minor stuff though. Maureen and Steve have done a great job with this race and it's one I will do again! Last updated: 2012-01-07 12:00 AM

Usual peanut butter and honey on a bagel with coffee.
Dropped off my gear and walked around a while.
