Pre-race routine:

Race at 10, so 2 poptarts at 8:15 with a big cup coffee. Gel 15 before.

-12C so Ultra shorts, tights, underarmor, long tech and then short race shirt - light race toque and heavy gloves.

Comments:

I was sure I'd be unable to do 1:30 so was expecting another 1:35 - paced slow for the first 4 or so then picked it up to 4:15 and still felt good so 4:10-4:15 to the end. Reeled in 3 people that had passed me much earlier, felt nice.

What would you do differently?:

Have faith, go harder.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Winter training always sucks and have winter weight on (exactly same as last year).

Still was 5 mins faster. This is good.


Event comments:

Buffet breakfast at Ft Calgary - I still think they should start/end the race from there rather than having everyone drive there afterwards...
