Swim
Comments: Were it not for the long run (uphill) to the transition area, I would have had my best time ever for the swim... felt really good. I skipped the wetsuit this time and really don't think I need it. Guess I was suffering from the "I'll drown if I don't wear the suit" paranoia that most new triathletes experience. I'm so over it. What would you do differently?: Nothing... I'll get stronger with time. Transition 1
Comments: I still spend too much time in transition compared with other racers, but that will come with practice too. Bike
Comments: Did I mention the hills? I will say that the pack racing side by side coming back from the turn around were road hogs. At one point, the racers were 4 deep and not really concerned about oncoming traffic (fellow racers). Karma dudes... karma. Let's hope YOU'RE still racing at 52. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Will get stronger with time. Transition 2
Comments: I like the "riding with feet on top of shoes comment above" there should be an option for "yeah, right". Ditto for "jumping off moving bike". What would you do differently?: Nothing. I like my feet. I'll eat the extra minute. Run
Comments: Since my overall rank was only "next to last" as opposed to "last" I'd say that this was a hard race overall...it was hot, but still cooler than Buckeye Lake. Good volunteer participation. The course for the entire event was beautiful. I loved the music... good rock. The hairpin parallel to the transition area, through the crowd, short hop over the curb, around the tree and then onto the final stretch for the finish line was just plain mean. As I was running the final segment I ran out of steam... and started to walk. Kyle came up behind me and put his hand on my back and said 'come on' ... was all I needed. I love that kid. Walt told me that I forgot to do the "Kyle clap" as I crossed the finish line. I'll make up for it in Springfield. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: You mean cool-down. I made a beeline for the lake. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hills. And I'm not 20 anymore. Its all good -- I love the races. Event comments: Most beautiful course so far... thought the turnout was great given how hot it was. The music was better this time. I miss bananas. Watermellon is good, but I'd trade the cookies and bad pasta for bananas anyday. Apples and peanut butter would be nice too. Anything wet. Last updated: 2006-05-06 12:00 AM

Grabbed my bike and headed for the racks for a "good" spot -- was #2 on the end and so happy enough. Got my race packet, marked & set up the transition area, then headed for the lake to test water temperature and check out the transition. Head over to the Wheelie Fun tent and get my pre-race mojo from Bob and Kyle.
