Swim
Comments: Holy crap was the water cold. Even with 2 swim caps and a hoodie - the shock of the cold made me want to take a deep breath every time my face hit the water. I kept running into people - in fact one dude who was doing the back stroke actually ended up above my legs as I was going the crawl. I felt like I could have done much better if the the water was warmer and I was able to avoid more people. What would you do differently?: I might think about starting ahead of the pack. While I might get run over, there would at least be fewer people to run into. I might also swim on the inside edge. Also want to practice more Transition 1
Comments: I would have come out faster but I was really cold and I stopped to help Jeff out of his wet suit. The suit was really tight and I feel like I could have done it faster with my own suit. I decided to only go with my biking shirt and skipped the sweat shirt. What would you do differently?: Just practice taking the suit off more (it was really the first time I had tried to take it off! Bike
Comments: I came out of the gate going really fast. Figuring that this was my fastest leg - I wanted to make the most of it. I cruised down the hill and did well until the last 2 miles when I ran out of gas. I had a Gu as I set off and a second Gu with a mile to spare in the swim. Until I saw my time, I really felt as if I had "crushed" this section What would you do differently?: I might try to work on my pace and leave a little more for the finish. I also would have benefitted from practicing more on the course so I could have been more confident on the hills. Spend more time in the drops. Transition 2
Comments: Felt like I nailed this... What would you do differently?: My only mistake was not taking a drink as I approached the dismount. Instead I took 5 seconds to grab a drink before heading out Run
Comments: I was gassed as I headed out onto the run - but I only stopped to walk 2 x - once for 1 minutes and the other for about 20 seconds. It was a decent run but I could have done better with more speedwork. What would you do differently?: Hill repeats and fartleks... Really need to work on my speed Post race
Warm down: I was so tired - I didn't stretch as much as I would have liked. Had some water and some breakfast cookies they handout out at the finish line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training on the run and OWS practice. Event comments: I liked this race. Last updated: 2012-01-10 12:00 AM

Spent the night before at a Paw Sox overnight. Sleep was short and thanks to Jacob, I didn't get to sleep until 2:15. I woke up at 5:15 and had cold oatmeal (3/4 oatmeal with 3/4 milk and 3/4 water) with blue berries and a med dunkin.
I warmed up with 45 minutes before the race. 1/2 mile run and stretch. I had a honey stinger 30 minutes before the swim. Then put on my borrowed wetsuit - thanks Marianne! - along with 2 swim caps and a hoodie.
Jeff Morrill - a fiji was the guy standing next to me.
