Overall Rank = 232/275
Age Group = Novice Masters
Age Group Rank = 13/20
Event warmup:

Swam a few warmup laps in the practice pool
Swim
  • 06m 42s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pool swim, liked the set up, did freestyle with bilateral breathing
What would you do differently?:

My turns were not smooth, paused a little too much at the end of each lane, but found the swim overall pretty easy and my breathing not too hard by the end. I think I could still improve my speed with some practice.
Transition 1
  • 03m 47s
Comments:

Could have been a bit faster but had to run approx. 300-400 yds from swim finish to transition. I left shoes outside because I didn't want to run in barefeet that far but it added time.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, maybe I could have just run in barefeet but didn't want to risk injury
Bike
  • 37m 22s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.06 mile/hr
Comments:

Very flat course, approx 15 mph winds, the first 5 miles into a head wind, some gusts. Roads were okay in some places, very pot-holed in others.
What would you do differently?:

I need to increase my pace and get better at shifting. I was pretty consistent in my effort but need more practice.
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

I thought I was faster but guess not :)
What would you do differently?:

I should have run after dismount to rack, fast walked instead. Legs felt pretty good coming off of bike, better than in my first tri!
Run
  • 40m 9s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Not a bad course, but I was too tired, did way too much walking
What would you do differently?:

Actually run more! Too much walking.
Post race
Warm down:

grabbed a drink and a couple of orange slices. Greeted DH and the kids, totally forgot to stretch and I'm regretting it now

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Started out the day with a really bad mindset...last few days at work had been really stressful and I was not at all focused the morning of the race. Total anxiety attack a couple of hours before the race.

Event comments:

Liked the course overall, not so much the run from swim to transition area, but overall pretty good. Very flat for bike and run which was great. Only water available on run course, no gatorade or sport drink of any kind which was disappointing. Very little after race activities, few vendors, only drinks available after where soda, again no gatorade or anything.
