Pre-race routine:

Had a few eggs for breakfast and two shots of gel before the race.

Nothing at all. I need to save all my energy for these hills.

Comments:

What a run. Snow, Ice, frozen mud, sloppy mud, and ran through the river twice in 6-10 inches of water.

Very hilly and technical course. I would have to say this is by far the hardest run that I have ever did. I was planning on just taking it easy since it was my first trail run. But at the start of the run Matt took of like a rocket and I had to get my HR way up just to stay caught up. I ended up holding that effort for the entire run. Legs getting sore around mile 6. I almost wiped out a few times on the steep down hills.

By the time I got done the bottom of my pants where frozen from running through the water. My shoes strings even where covered in ice.

What would you do differently?:

I was way over dressed.

They had a nice bonfire and some awesome chilli at the finish line.
