Pre-race routine:

Up early to eat and drive to the event. It was about 40 mins from my house. standart bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter. Hooked the bike up and the car was loaded the night before.
Event warmup:

Ran some short sprints to try the "priming" stragedy. to get body ready for fast paced efforts. Then got in the pool about 10 mins before start did a few laps and two sprints. to get the blood flowing again. Stretched for the last few mins till start.
Swim
  • 06m 56s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was my best swim. I held pace with little drop off and did not start to fast. One guy passed me and I drafted him for a 75 meters to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

I hope to repeat this performance.
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

pulled my strap out of my bike shoe and had to reset straps to put my shoe on.
What would you do differently?:

make sure shoes are set up opened up better so i dont pull the straps out again.
Bike
  • 39m 25s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.27 mile/hr
Comments:

Course was very challenging. Lots of 90 degree turns.
What would you do differently?:

I need to train hills more to tackle a course like this one again.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

Not sure what happened, I exited the bike and ran to transition faster than I have before. Zoned out at my spot and took a lot of time racking the bike and putting shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Stay mentally focused.
Run
  • 14m 13s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I could not get my legs to turnover. Breathing was good and had more to give just could not get the cadence up.
What would you do differently?:

Train more running after biking hills. i think the hills zapped my legs more than I thought.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and stretched

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training for the last month. We have been remodeling a house and had hurt training plans.

Event comments:

It was a well organized race on a tough course. I liked the challenge and will have to see if I can improve.
