Pre-race routine:

Late race start, 1045 am. Got a breakfast burrito and headed to Los Alamitos from the San Fernando Valley. Left early because of traffic issue at the base last year. THere was no traffic so I got there plenty of early for the race. Went to registration, transition area, and just hung out.
Event warmup:

Typical dynamic warmup before run.
Swim
  • 05m 4s
  • 219 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

so-so swim for me. I was a little tired but i swam pretty hard. I did better by over a minute from last years swim.
What would you do differently?:

Be a faster swimmer. It my definite weak spot

Comments:

decent transition. got my bike shoes on quick, ran out of the transition area. Last year's t-1 time was 2:26...almost a minute improvement
What would you do differently?:

go faster

Comments:

I thought I did well. I did see a couple of Clydes that kicked butt and passed me. Hats off to them. I think I had the 6th best bike. I cant be too unhappy. I did it last year in 43.19 (4+ min time imporvement ) and I think it was 1.1 miles longer this year. I think i did alright.
What would you do differently?:

get faster to catch them faster Clydes
Transition 2
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

pretty good...dump bike and run about 200 yards to the pool. last year my t-2 time was 3:25, so over a minute improvement.
What would you do differently?:

get faster
Run
  • 26m 32s
  • 3.73 miles
  • 07m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

WOW!. I was shocked at how well i ran. I kicked butt. I was real happy.
What would you do differently?:

get even faster
Post race
Warm down:

Cool'd off, had a clif bar, oranges, and water . Walked around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

be faster. Could improve in the swim and maybe the bike.

Event comments:

My coach was REAL HAPPY with my performance. I think I came in 90 overall. If she is happy then i did real well. I had a major improvement from last years race I am also lost a lot weight in the last few months. So that helps. Next race is 2 weeks in Pasadena! and then 3 weeks later in Oceanside.

Lots of participates and as usual a big thank you to the volunteers from the military people, parking people, and the race volunteers. THANK YOU
