Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, packed up the car. It was the g/f's first ever race in the Duathlon. So i was packing for two.
I ate a Clif Builder's bar and a grape Gatorade.

Event warmup:

Dynamic warm up, get the blood flowing. Help the G/F getting mentally ready for her race.
Swim
  • 03m 52s
  • 164 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

I obviously could be a heck of a lot faster. Swimming isnt my thing yet. Even though I raced hard, i swam hard without slowing down.
What would you do differently?:

Get faster and smoother
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

Reverse Traithlon.....run to bike

decent transition. I was gassed for the run so I took an extra few seconds to put on my bike shoes and taking a swag of gatorade.

my division, I was 12/35
What would you do differently?:

be more quicker
Bike
  • 27m 2s
  • 9.65 miles
  • 21.42 mile/hr
Comments:

I was happy with this effort. I pushed and I was trying to keep up with a person I was focusing on. It was pretty crowded on the bike and you really had to ride defensively. THere were a lot of beginners who did not really stay to the right.
What would you do differently?:

Get more faster and stay in the aero position more.
Transition 2
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

bike to swim transition

Got my shoes off quickly, put my goggles on top of my head and put my shoes on for the short run to the pool.

my division, I was 3/35
What would you do differently?:

be even faster
Run
  • 23m 3s
  • 3.32 miles
  • 06m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

I started comfortably and then i fell into my rythym. I felt a little fatigued because this is my last hard week before my taper for the Calfornia 70.3. But I continued to prod away. I ran hard and pretty fast. Overall, i think i did really well. Under 7 min miles is good for me.
What would you do differently?:

be faster to get a faster time.
Post race
Warm down:

Cool'd down with some water, orange slice, banana piece and a Chocolate Zico. Walked around to get my HR down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I really dont do, i think I raced hard and I raced well. Anytime I can lose some more lbs will make me more faster.

Event comments:

Registration- opened on Friday at 4 pm. I arrived at 530 pm and they were out of XL shirts. To me this is unacceptable. Fortunately, on race day they had more XL shirts and I was able to exchange my shirt.

Race Day- no real complaints, it is getting a little crowded on the bike.

Again, a big thank you to the organizer and all the volunteers. THANK YOU!
