Pre-race routine:

up 2 hrs before race- ate a Cliff Bar, drank water.
Event warmup:

a few easy strides to car/around church lot. less than 1 mile.

Comments:

side stitch at mile 9.5-11.5 - too much water?? I never drank more than 1/4 cup. sweaty enough to drink.
What would you do differently?:

drink only when thirsty - but a fine line - since once behind - tough to get enough water.

Warm down:

high knees/butt kicks

What limited your ability to perform faster:

allergy was hurting me - tough to get enough air.

Event comments:

overall - this is a well run Indy Runners race. local HS and college runners volunteer as course marshals and water stations.

I did not wear my polar watch - I did not want to concentrate on the mechanical pace....wanted too run feeling the run. stayed on pace - 8min/mile the whole race. I wanted to try to pick up last 3 miles - but was doing well staying on pace. picked up time on the first hill - picked up pace on my own - without looking at watch - and kept that extra time the whole race.
Course: a 2 nice hills and rest a few rollers - out to quarry easy run - run last 5 miles through a neighborhood - seems most difficult.
