Comments:

Way to hot for a run!! The temperature at the start was about 70F at 7:00 AM. I know that's not bad for some people, but on the water in San Diego, that's hot! Not to mention it was pretty humid so the sweat never evaporated off your skin. Temperature kept climbing as we ran, probably in the low 80's by the time I finished. I was trying a new race strategy I found on Active, and it would have been great except for the whole overheating thing. I had to back off the pace to keep from overheating. Too bad, at the start I was on pace for a 1:35 half! Ended up about 10 min slower. Maybe next time!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, I had a great race! I just had to back off of the pace to keep from overheating.
Post race
Warm down:

Took off my clothes and literally wrung them out. Once that was done, it was really pretty pleasant to sit in the shade, rehydrate, and relax in the slightly damp clothes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat!

Event comments:

Overall the race was great! It seemed like they added extra aid stations and upped the medical availability due to the heat. There were water stations almost every 3/4 of a mile and most of them had a hose or some form of water sprayer to cool us down as we ran past. Very organized and they even had giant blocks of ice so they were serving cold water at the aid stations! I even saw many of the paramedics assiting the volunteers in handing out water to runners!
My one complaint is more of the people racing. It was a hot day and obviously most runners were not prepared for that. All the aid stations were croweded and the volunteers were struggling to keep the water cups stocked and available for them. If they weren't ready, runners were yelling at them! Totally uncalled for!

Too bad the runners had to be the downside of the event. The course was great and the volunteers were great!

Performance: Average
Lap times got steadily slower as the temp went up. HR was pretty consistent (around 166 bpm). Ran off of how I felt, not my pace since after about 4 miles I realized it was going to be too hot and the PR wasn't going to happen today.
Course: Point to point from Cabrillo National Monument to Balboa Park. First 3-4 miles is downhill, flat in the middle, last 2 miles is uphill.
