Run
Comments: I battled a cold for most of the week so I went out fairly conervatively. Just tried to settle into a pace that didn't feel too fast. Had a few coughing fits and they almost made me gag, yuck. Had a gu at the water stop near 7 miles or so, then needed another one at mile 11. They really gave me a boost when I needed it. Last 3 miles were tough but I felt like I maintained a good pace because I continued to catch up to and pass a few people through the last few miles. What would you do differently?: Not much. I've never PRed at this race but it is a great judge of where your fitness is mid winter. The plan is to do a few more halfs this spring and try to gear up for an A-race half sometime this summer. I'd love to run a 1:45, which would be a huge PR for me! Post race
Warm down: Waited for my friend to finish then went into the Securian building and got a few post race goodies. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cold that I battled during the week. Event comments: I'd recommend this race. It is well organized. There are loads of volunteers. Sometimes weather can be bad but this year it was perfect. Last updated: 2012-01-29 12:00 AM

Ate a bagel, drank small cup of coffee and half an energy bar at home for breakfast. Drove over to St Paul with a friend also running. Picked up our packets, used the port-a-potties and ate a banana. Made our way to the start about 5 minutes before the race.
