Overall Rank = 361/503

Age Group Rank = 23/35
Pre-race routine:

Had coffee, banana w/peanut butter. Did not sleep well last night!
Event warmup:

a little walking around
Swim
  • 17m 6s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was bummed to not wear wetsuit but water was just too warm. Lots of bumping around in my wave, suffered a few kicks and whacks but overall was okay. Switched to breast stroke a few times for sighting. I felt my Road ID bracelet slipping off about 2/3 of swim. I grabbed it just in time before it was headed to the bottom of the murky lake! I ended up swimming with it clasped in my right hand for the remainder of the swim, I'm sure that didn't help my stroke!
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster
Transition 1
  • 02m 35s
Comments:

It was raining as we were setting up transition so some of my things were wet and in plastic bags. That slowed me down a tad. I'm disappointed with my T1 time especially since I didn't have to get out of my wetsuit. Not sure what happened here.
Bike
  • 45m 1s
  • 12.3 miles
  • 16.39 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt pretty good on the bike. Was passed mostly by men, only a few women. I was happy to have an average pace over 16mph.
What would you do differently?:

Bike faster
Transition 2
  • 01m 51s
Run
  • 45m 43s
  • 4.4 miles
  • 10m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Clearly I need to work on my run again following taking a break due to shin injury. I was very happy that I only walked through water stops and my shin cooperated. I found a guy that was running the same pace as me and we ended up being "runny buddies" for most of the run. It was great to have the company, made it go by faster. He smoked me at the finish line, though. :)
What would you do differently?:

Train more for the run when injury-free and run faster!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around to catch my breath after sprinting to finish

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of run training due to injury. I need to continue to train consistently so I can keep making progress with my race results.

Event comments:

Loved this race and would totally do it again! Such a great race course and wonderful atmosphere!! Lots of my Baystate Tri teammates were there, which always makes for a good time!!
