Bike
Comments: Was in SF for 11 days before this race so wasnt sure how well I would do. My estimated FTP from TrainerRoad (using KK Road Machine) was 280 (based off of 20 min test on Dec 18). Hoping my power hasnt dropped too much while I was away. And I didnt know how different the CompuTrainer would measure power vs. TrainerRoad so wasnt sure what to target, but tried to keep power around 295-305. I got off to a good start and took the early lead for my heat. I was feeling pretty good, but knew this would be an all out sufferfest. My HR was already higher than expected, but didnt really adjust. Went more on feel. Once I got to the big climb at the end, I was really feeling it and felt my power starting to fade, but tried hard to hang on. Last 1/2 mile seemed to take forever and thought I was going to spit up my lungs at the end. Overall, I was very happy with my results. Came in first in my heat and was 2nd overall after my heat. But I watched Brent in the next heat beat me by 4 seconds and knew my position would fall after the rest of the heats. But still happy with 7th overall and 2nd in my AG. Good start to the season. Post race
Event comments: Great event and well organized. A few more fans would be nice. Last updated: 2012-01-31 12:00 AM

12:40 start. Left house at 11:15. Ate Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich on way down. Registered and weighed in. Set up bike on trainer and started to warm up.
20 min spin at event. A few short bursts at high intensity. HR seemed higher than normal and had trouble getting it to come down. Chalking it up to pre-race nerves.
