Run
Comments: Not sure why my rank didn't show up. I guess I should add this was a PR for me. I started running in October 2010 and did the Surf City 1/2 in 2011. Although I had trained, it was my first 1/2 and first real running event since I had NEVER been a runner (nor wanted to be. For 2011 I ended up very sick with the flu one weekend before the race and barely recovered by race morning. My time was so bad I may as well have walked it. I went on to do 3 more 1/2s during 2011 and earned the beach cities challenge medal, but my fastest time was 2:55:47. I had slowed on that one to run with my husband who was just recovering from being ill as well. My biggest struggle for this 1/2 was right about mile 10 1/2 when you are just ready for it to be over and no longer care about the time, just want to finish. I had run 11 miles two weeks before and it was easy, but for some reason in race mode, you are just over it. With only my self for motivation I kind of gave up until about the last 1/2 mile when I started to really run about 10:15 min/mi and sprinted accross the finish line. When I realized my time, I did say to myself, certainly I could have made up 2 minutes. Post race
Warm down: Forma provided post race individual stretching by PT techs. Awesome What limited your ability to perform faster: It was a little warm. Event comments: Surf City did a great job of using social networking to keep everyone posted prior to the race day and answering questions. Last updated: 2012-02-04 12:00 AM

We parked in Huntington State Beach and walked about 2 miles to the start nice warm up. It was very cold before the sun came up (in the 40's). Once the sun was up we didn't even need arm warmers
