Swim
Comments: Pretty happy overall with my swim. Couldn't seem to find any feet to draft off of. Drifted a little left on the way out but started sighting more frequently and held a good line. Rounding was good except when I tried to round the green mid-way bouy. I would have like to have been able to breath every third or an alternating 2 and 3 but had to breath to one side due to the waves. What would you do differently?: Sight a little more frequently during the first 200 to make sure I am on course. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time, knew my wetsuit was going to snag on my heels as it always has. Just used my thumb as I have been practicing. Got up to speed quickly once on my bike and started passing people right away. What would you do differently?: Maybe not take my time, but not sure, it helps me settle down for the bike and doesn't cost much time. Bike
Comments: First place in my age group (bike only) was 2 seconds ahead of me, if only I hadn't dropped my chain on the first loop. Very happy with my bike split, probably my best bike yet. Started in the 8th swim wave so it was kind of fun passing a few hundred people on the bike. What would you do differently?: Not drop my chain Transition 2
Comments: Took my time again, had a little trouble getting body glide on my feet and getting my helmet unbuckled. What would you do differently?: Put body glide in my shoes, I missed some key areas and have some blisters today. Practice with my aero helmet more as I struggled with my helmet more than I should have. Run
Comments: Actually not that upset with this run. Most of the poor performance is not do to a too fast bike. Between mile 4 and 5 my right foot went numb and I had to stop to massage it. Then I had to again between mile 6 and 7. I did not follow my nutrition plan as closely as I should have. Planned on having roughly 200cal/hour starting after the swim. I only had 1 GU at the start of the run and one GU about halfway through the run. I just didn't want the GU, but when I did I felt better. What would you do differently?: Stick to my nutrition plan. Felt pretty crummy after the race and perked right up after having a coke. Post race
Warm down: Some walking, and some stretching then packing up the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: I did not follow my nutrition plan. Need to stick to the plan that worked and was tried out in training, especially on the run. Event comments: My second year doing this race, very well put on race. My girlfriend's first Half and she placed 3rd in her age group! I PR'd by 46:39! We are both very happy with our performance and with the quality race put on. Last updated: 2012-02-07 12:00 AM

Wake up around 0330 eat breakfast and pack the car. Left around 0430 and got there around 0530. Set up transition and walk back to the car to leave all the bags behind. Re-apply sunscreen and walk back to transition to leave keys and put on wetsuit. Watch my girlfriend start and then wait for 24mins for my wave to start.
Some light jogging and some stretching.
