Swim
Comments: Had one slow swimmer to get around - otherwise ok. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: I let my son ride my time trial bike, which is the only one with clipless pedals. Used my road bike with toe cages and wore running shoes. Not coordinated enough anyway to put feet in shoes while riding. Bike
Comments: Went pretty hard the whole time. Always suprised how much faster I can go on race day. I never get near 19 mph, or even 18, on my road bike in training. Transition 2
Comments: One nice thing about toe cages and running shoes - super-fast T2! 12th of 193 overall. Run
Comments: Have to wonder if I went a little too hard on the bike, or if I simply haven't emphasized running enough in my training. I have focused on the bike all summer as that had historically been my weakest discipline. This was the first time ever that my run was ranked worse than my bike, swim and overall. However, it was only about 30 sec slower than my typical triathlon 5K run. Post race
Warm down: Ate pancakes and got some Gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: May have gone a little hard on the bike (racing my son). Event comments: Great race shirt! Bright yellow tech shirt, so good for visibility on early morning runs. Fun cow picture on front. Last updated: 2012-02-09 12:00 AM

Loaded bikes into the car the night before. Got up, ate a bowl of cereal, and drove to the race with my son who was also racing.
None.
