Swim
Comments: First time in the pool since before IMLP was 2 weeks ago. dumbass me. I knew this would suck and I just didn't want to burn too many matches. Tried to stay calm and smooth. What would you do differently?: swim more. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: My mechanical issues meant I essentially could not use the 23 and 25 cog for the race which is tough on a hilly course, but i did have full use of the 27, at least. I felt really solid and fast. Was shocked to see I was almost 4 min slower than last year. I love this course, though. so fun. What would you do differently?: you can't fake the miles and miles of training volume that ironman brings you. Transition 2
Comments: rank 87/1696 = good transition with Burke on my heels! Run
Comments: No watch this year, so just went by feel. felt solid, but did not have any 'speed'. Post race
Warm down: Hung out with Delta. Went to town at Five Guys. Event comments: I was very happy with the race based on my training. Humbled that I was 9+ min slower than last year even though I "felt" strong out there. I'd like to time travel back and give myself a pat on the back for last year and then time travel back to now and give myself a kick in the ass for this year. Last updated: 2012-02-21 12:00 AM

Saturday was a rough day for my bike. Snapped my chain saturday morning on my test ride (my fault on a bad install the night before) and had to walk home and then get a new one installed. Then i could not get the rear shifting to cooperate. Spent about 2 hours at a bike shop in Columbia with a patient mechanic who also could not figure out what was wrong. He did make it a little better, though...ridable at least. Made it to bike racking with about 5 min to spare.
