Total Time = 2h 48m 6s
Overall Rank = 377/
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 44/145
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4ish. Cin-raisin bagel w/pb and banana by 4:30. Sip gatorade until start. 1/2 scoop 1st Endurance Pre-race 30 mins before, gel 10 mins before swim.
Event warmup:

Short swim warm up...5-10 mins
Swim
  • 33m 38s
  • 1760 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Slower swim than I had planned for. Close to 90deg temps didn't help but the course also felt pretty long. I did the same swim (2 laps for Muncie Man in June) and my splits were 6 mins faster! One of the last waves to go so plenty of folks from earlier waves to dodge but overall not bad at all.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster!
Transition 1
  • 03m 14s
Comments:

Pretty long run into T1. Decided to put shoes on first and not bother with pre-clipped shoes. All in all, decently fast transition I thought
What would you do differently?:

Maybe pre-clip shoes
Bike
  • 1h 14m 30s
  • 30 miles
  • 24.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Fast course! Controlled hammering for sure...passed a bunch of people. Packed course with racers all over the road. Drank a full TorHans 30 w/ perform and 1/2 scoop of FE Pre-Race. Took 2 salt sticks about 40 mins in, and a gel at about 1:00. Also drank a full bottle of water too which totalled 54oz of fluid in 1:14. Not sure if that's too much or not given the heat.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Rode at perfect pace I think...~75% effort
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Sat down and put on socks
What would you do differently?:

Not a whole lot
Run
  • 55m 7s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

HOT, but plenty of aid stations so really no excuse. Not happy with my run time at all. I realize the heat was probably THE deciding factor but I know I have a much faster run than that. Also need to look at nutrition as my stomach was in knots and right quad started to mildly cramp. Walked aid stations.
What would you do differently?:

Sort out nutrition, htfu and run harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Post race food, pulled pork sambo, baked beans, preztels etc.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat. Also need to figure out nutrition. Had my HIM nutrition plan dialed in so changing the distance at the last minute didn't help.

Event comments:

What can I say. Finisher of the now infamous IM Muncie 37.2
