Pre-race routine:

last race = stomach - this race stomach ok - it was/is the rt side of my back - killed when I woke - hurt to the race - felt fine during the run! hurts now sitting and typing this report?
Event warmup:

race start is 3 miles form my house. Rode a mountain bike to the race down the monon trail. mine was the only bike at the storage tent?? weather 41 may have scarred some off - but plenty of people live close enough to ride/walk this race - the ride does a nice job of loosening up the legs. I'd ride to all my races!

Comments:

wore my Patagonia Smartwool shirt- perfect for weather - addidas shorts and Saucony guide shoes. The Saucony's are becoming my favorite running shoe. this summer I'll wear them for my everyday trainers.
The run - I started with the 10min pace group - since I arrived only 15 before the race and it was packed - problem=tough to "mark" a pace - I ran by feel - how I was feeling at that time - "personal pace" wierd: pace first half = 51:23 (7:51) and pace second half = 51:21 (7:51)
What would you do differently?:

get to race 10 min earlier for better start position.
Post race
Warm down:

Upland Brewing Pale Ale pint. A Massage. Rode the MTB home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

this pain in my back really stinks!
Good note: my ankles were fine - they have both been bothering me - and no issues today - felt normal the whole day.

Event comments:

good race - good course - nice and close to home=easy to/from. possible spring marathon next year - this race would fit nicely.

Performance: Average
none - I only work a Timex watch - no HR/no pace ---ran by feel -at start, went with a nice pack and got to a nice open area about mile 1- about 730 initial pace per clock.
Course: there are a few short hills--just enough to keep the legs guessing - overall, a few rollers are good during a run. lots of police/national guard on street intersections (my son Neil, National Guard, was stationed on Hazel Dell, part of the marathon course)
