Run
Comments: Leslie and I started in the back knowing that these folks were serious. I felt good. Ran under 8s which is good for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: My first transition...ever. I laid my helmet out with my gloves inside, smart. Kept the toe clips on so I didn't have to change shoes - I liked that. Taking a small plastic tub to keep my stuff in was a good idea. Had Gu, extra water and Cliff bar on hand. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: I need to get stronger on hills. My average pace suffered and I need to work on getting my tracking error down - I'm all over the place and that could be dangerous to other riders. I need to work on standing up in the saddle. My chain popped off. I'll have to rate my biking as below average because it was so difficult. What would you do differently?: Get better at hills, work on standing and pumping, take my bike to in see why she's not shifting smoothly onto the big ring. Transition 2
Comments: I think I took a half a packet of Gu here, I took my time, had some water and gatorade. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I fell right into my squatty run but I don't know why my average pace slipped above 8:00. Probably still suffering from the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 3
Comments: Switched my front bottle to water. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Words just can not describe the bike segment. I have to rate the bike as below average, I just need to get better on the hills. Transition 4
Comments: I was very excited to be this far along. My goal was to finish overall in less than 2:00 but at this point I knew I wasn't going to make that and I just needed to run hard and see what happens. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Post race
Event comments: I felt solid on the runs and weak on the bike which makes sense only having a bike for a month and having just knocked out the half marathon two weeks prior. I knew this was a stout race to kick off my career but I knew I could finish stong [for my ability]. Next year I'll knock off 15 minutes! Last updated: 2006-05-11 12:00 AM
