Swim
Comments: Pretty good swim. I felt a little sick out to the first buoy. I think that maybe I was out a little fast, but not sure. I settled down and kept swimming. I was a little more "in the pack" this time ran into a couple of people and stuff. It wasn't too bad but it was different than my other two races in that way. What would you do differently?: Continue to work on my sighting and breathing. Transition 1
Comments: Spent a little more time then I wanted to putting on my shoes. Don't know why I struggled with my wetsuit more this time either. My transition times were slower this race than last race but the field was bigger and the transition area was bigger. My location in the transition area was pretty good though a couple of slots in from the may aisle about 1/2 way into the transition area. What would you do differently?: Practice putting on my bike shoes. Bike
Comments: Not a very good ride. I was off of my pace for the last couple of races and this should have been my fastest bike yet. I think that I was in my middle gears too much, trying to get my cadence up but not really getting it done. I also didn't ride enough between Duxbury and this triathlon. I need to work on this. What would you do differently?: Work harder between races on my bike speed. Hit the bike harder during the race. Transition 2
Comments: I went again without socks on both the bike and the run. I had a pebble in my left running shoe (probably sand from the beach). It drove me crazy on the run, and rubbed a little sore on the little toe of that foot. I ran good but I need to figure out how to make sure my feet are clean without adding too much time to my transitions. What would you do differently?: Clean my feet better before I run. Run
Comments: The run and bike ride were listed on the website as both being ~ the distance. The race site had my pace at 6:33. I felt good. I improved my pace over my last race, which is awesome. I think that I might break a 20 min 5k in one or both of my last races. Finishing on the sand was tough. What would you do differently?: Make sure that my feet are clean before I put on my running shoes. Post race
Warm down: Walked about a mile What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough bike work on pace and speed between races, pebble in my shoe. Event comments: Good race. I'd consider doing it again next year. I really wish that the distances were more consistent with other sprints in the area (1/4 mile swim, 12 mile ride, 3.1 mile run). Ate a banana and a yogurt for breakfast. Arrived at the race around 6:40am for an 8:15 start time. Set up my transition area, ran about 1 1/2 miles, put on my wetsuit, swam for about 20 min warm up and then attended the pre-race meeting.
Ran 1 1/2 miles (felt great), swam about 20 min.
