First race ever, so I kinda just stood around nervously looking for someone to talk to and catch on to what was going on.

I hadn't trained for the swim AT ALL prior to this. Like, I hadn't done laps in a pool in almost 20 years before jumping in to start the race.

That may not have been the best plan...
What would you do differently?:

Took my time, dried off more than I normally would, stretched the quads a little and slowly went up to the spin room.

I really need more work here than I thought.
What would you do differently?:

I'd push myself. I coasted through this. I should have been able to squeeze out at least another .5 mile.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I did.
First race, so my goal was simply to finish... but once I realized I was going to finish, I didn't take the opportunity to push myself.

I will definitely be doing the next one they have to gauge my progress.
