Swim
Comments: Could've been better. My swim training got put on hold while working for NCOBS, swim fitness was not good. Huffed and puffed, and got passed by guys I've beaten out of the water at other races. What would you do differently?: Swim more. NCOBS was an awesome job, but it didn't give me much help on the training front, as I was not able to swim or bike while there. Transition 1
Comments: Not bad. About where I expected, but improvements can be made. What would you do differently?: Practice, and finally get new pedals and shoes. Bike
Comments: Yet again, my training suffered while at NCOBS. I rode hard, but not as hard as I could have if I had been training consistently. What would you do differently?: Train more. Do more strength training and speed work, work on my cadence. Transition 2
Comments: Not bad. Could've been faster. I knocked over another bike that was not racked properly, and had to waste time reracking it. In the future, I'll just leave those. What would you do differently?: Either don't knock over other people's bike, or just leave them if you do. Run
Comments: Not too shabby. Running is the one thing I did do at NCOBS, but this is still a below average time for me. What would you do differently?: Just run more, and work on speed and dropping the weight I gained over the summer. Post race
Warm down: None. What limited your ability to perform faster: Extra Lbs from not training and eating like crap. Event comments: Great hometown race. Will definitely do it again. Last updated: 2012-03-09 12:00 AM

Woke up early and did the usual. Ate my banana breakfast wrap, loaded the bike and headed to Lake Cammack. I live in Haw River, so I was only about 15 minutes away. There weren't any lines when I got there, so I cruised right through body marking and chip pick-up. I had picked up my packet the day before. Set up transition and got dressed.
Short swim warm-up right before the start of the first wave, which I was in.
