Run
Comments: Started out way fast - sub 7min for the first half mile, heart rate was around 170. Backed off to around 8:15/mile and heart rate settled to 156 after the first mile. Kept it there pretty consistently the whole way, with a surge in the last mile. What would you do differently?: Stretch more before the start - it was cold and legs felt tight. Post race
Warm down: A little stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: cold, snowy weather. Event comments: Started snowing like crazy about an hour before start - a lot of people bailed out. Start was delayed 15 minutes because there was a long line of people picking up packets - organizers should have done that the day before. Snow stopped after a couple of miles. Was a fun race, would be much better with some decent weather. Last updated: 2012-03-13 12:00 AM

Coffee, banana and a couple of handfuls of raisins about two hours before start.
About a five minute jog - would have liked to have stretched more but the start time was moving around and ended up not having enough time. They said there would be a 20 minute delay because not everyone had got there bibs yet - then about five minutes later they were yelling "start is in four minutes".
