Comments: Good run overall. My co-worker Jake and I set out to break 44, if not 43 minutes. Running with him was great. My stomach started to slosh at 4km and then the heat from the road started coming through my shoes. They were really starting to burn. I saw my wife and 2 year old daughter at the halfway turnaround and my girl said, "Hallllooo Daddy!" which was really helpful at that point. I kept up with Jake and our desired pace until 6km, then I started to fade. I was expecting another water table around the 5-6km point, but had to wait until just past 7 to get it. My mouth was really dry by then. The eight km was my slowest, but I worked through and did well enough in the last two. I was eager for the ending and did not have anything left when I crossed the line. Very tired & sore, but satisfied. What would you do differently?: Have my wife throw me a bottle at the halfway point. She said that some other people were doing it. I wish we would have known to think of that! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Lots of oranges. What limited your ability to perform faster: Wicked heat. Event comments: There needs to be more water tables, especially for a 10km race. And, while I understand how difficult it can be to get volunteers, there were two children handing out water at the one table. They did alright, but they just aren't able to hold the cups high enough. It sounds like a petty critisism, but not being able to reach the water is a big deal. Last updated: 2006-05-13 12:00 AM

Small supper and plenty to drink. It was a HOT day.
Jogged 1/2 mile to the event, then some more jogging to get the cob-webs out.
