Swim
Comments: The worst swim I've had in a while. My HIM the month before felt much better. I had my head dunked under for the first time in a while. Took me a few minutes to get over it. I was 400 yards into the 600 yard swim before I actually got comfortable. I just couldn't get comfortable with my breathing or anything for that matter. What would you do differently?: Not sure. Transition 1
Comments: I was a little slower than normal but I didn't press on either transition. I've just gotten a new coach and my garmin doesn't swim so I took a little bit to get my heart rate monitor and watch straight. Training for IMFL and he is still trying to get a handle on my heart rate. What would you do differently?: Go ahead a buy the garmin 910 and quit fight with the 405 that I can't swim with. Bike
Comments: Tire issues cost me a lot of time. I have been having some issues with getting air in to stay in my tires since I got them. I was down to about 65 psi by the time I got finished. So I was basically riding with a front flat. Without the tire issues I could have pushed a lot more. The guys from The Charleston Bike Shop finally got them straight for me.They will now be a new bike shop. The shop I bought them from has gone out of business and they never had them right from the beginning. What would you do differently?: Make sure everything is right with the bike before the race. Transition 2
Comments: Lost a shoe at the transition mat. Volunteer grabbed it for me until the race was over. It didn't slow me down any. Same as T1. I have the garmin with the pain in the butt touch bezal so it took a minute to change from bike to run. What would you do differently?: Next time I won't worry about the heart rate monitor or the watch for the race. Only had my coach for 2 weeks so I wanted from him to get the data in a race situation. No watch for July 8 race and T2 will be closer to 0:45. Run
Comments: My run is terrible. Even as bad as my time on the run was, it was better than it has been. My coach is going to be really focusing on my run. While I was running, I didn't feel like I could have pushed it much harder but I was never felt tired after I was finished. I have to push my body a little harder and get over then hump. What would you do differently?: Push till I get over the hump or puke. Post race
Warm down: Nothing. What limited your ability to perform faster: Tire issues and run fitness. Event comments: Just started with my coach a couple of weeks ago and can aleardy see things going in a better direction. It is going to take a while but it's going to get better. Woke up at 5:00 and got a quick shower. My wife was leaving on a flight out of Charleston at 3:00 so I had to hurry her and the kids up. Got her packed up and the car loaded and was out the door by 5:25. She had most of her things ready to go so it went smoothly. Grabbed a cliff bar on the way out the door.
Swam about 200 yards.
