Swim
Comments: So I wasn't really excited for this race. So I decided to jsut take it as a good training race and keep it cool and calm. It actually made the swim a lot more enjoyable. I stayed to the inside so that when breathing to the right I could see people and that really helped with sighting. I realized that at the olympic distance I can trust watching other people more than at the sprint distance. What would you do differently?: My wetsuit rubbed on my neck again so vaseline or duct tape may be required. That or go swimming so I can see what is catchin on my neck. Transition 1
Comments: This is such a long transition and straight up the hill. I was trying to just relax and keep the HR down for the transition. It made for a more enjoyable bike start, but poor time. Also, having to pack my bag didn't help the time. Bike
Comments: I was feeling pretty good about the time w/ the out and back around Lake Mead, then the climb up to Boulder started. I wanted to save some for the run so I just enjoyed the climb. I minimized nutrition and had half of a 20 oz waterbottle and 1 GU gel. What would you do differently?: I probably could have gone harder, but it was an enjoyable ride. Transition 2
Comments: It was an ok transition. Again, I took my time and probably could have been faster. Run
Comments: I have had slight knee issues (seems like ITB problems) so I kept it pretty conservative. Overall it felt good. I took one glass of water and one glass of gatorade. Post race
Warm down: Made sure and walked around a lot and stretched out, particularly stuff w/ my hips and knees. What limited your ability to perform faster: Motivation. I was just happy to finish and not really in a competing mentality. Event comments: Don't expect any PRs due to hills and transtion areas, but it is a fun race. T1 was way over crowded (really hard to find a spot even showing up an hour before my wave started). T1 is also very long and on a rough road, but that seems out of necessity due the venue. The volunteers were good. The course was well marked, though I saw a couple of people doing the sprint distance that missed their turn-around on the run. Post-race was pretty good and there were a lot of people out cheering at the finish line. Overall it was a fun race. Last updated: 2012-03-16 12:00 AM

Night before had a light pasta dinner w/ chicken parm. In the morning I had a Nature Valley Oats and Honey granola bar w/ a 32 oz gatorade. We got T1 at 7:00 (after dropping of shoes at T2 for the split transition) for an 8:00 start. I walked down and had to force my way into a spot as the transition was very crowded. After a bathroom stop and I put my wetsuit on and headed down to the water.
Didn't really get one due to extended time in setting up transition. I got in the water enough to get my head wet and get used to the water and that's about it.
