Pre-race routine:

I arrived a little over an hour before the race. There were plenty of folk there already. I got set up in transition, got my body marking done, and made several trips to the bathroom. I also went to check out the pool.

A few minutes before the race, I did a quick 3-4 minute jog around the campus.

Pool swim was definitely something different. On the other hand, it was at the end so it wasn't that hard to give it all that I could.

Nothing really. I felt like it was a pretty strong swim considering.

I need to get stronger on the bike. Had a hard time holding my pace after the first 6-7 miles.

Nothing. I went out hard on the bike and tried to build up some time figuring I would get caught by a few folks.

I felt really good on the run, and this is definitely my strong suit. Since it was first, I wasn't really sure how to run it. I didn't feel like I held back a lot, but I definitely gave myself something for the ride.

Course: This was an out and back course. Going out (and mostly downhill) the wind was at my back. On the way back it was the opposite. I felt pretty good on the ride although this is an area that I need to improve. Any further and I would have been toast.
