Swim
Comments: Decided to go without the wetsuit since it was only 250 meters (good decision). Water temp wasn't too bad and quickly got used to it. Felt great for entire swim and never felt like I was going too hard. At about the middle of the pool during the last lap, there was a traffic jam as people were waiting for everyone in front of them to get out of the pool. Looked at my watch at that point and saw it was 4:16 (which I was happy with). Ended up walking the remaining 12 meters to the end (because of all of the people)...add another 30 feet to the timing mat and there's my swim time. I was happy with my actual pace in the pool. What would you do differently?: Nothing...maybe some anti-fog spray in the goggles before the race, but they weren't too bad. There should have been :15 seconds between each swimmer versus :10. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was slower than I would have liked. I could tell I haven't done it in a few months. Since it was a little chilly this morning, I put on a l/s shirt which was a little challenging when wet. No major issues though. What would you do differently?: Pratice I guess....other than that, nothing. Bike
Comments: I think this was my best bike yet! I pushed the pace to see how I would feel and I felt great the entire race! Popped my chain on second loop which took a few seconds to get back on (had to stop). Ate GU with about 1 mile left on bike. What would you do differently?: Take the bike in for a tune up...chain has been popping more often lately. Transition 2
Comments: Great T2...no issues at all! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: The run is always my weakest leg. I was a little afraid of how it would go after I pushed the bike, but I felt pretty good! It took me about a mile to have my legs feel good and to have the numbness in my toes to go away. What would you do differently?: Pushed it harder...I finished with some left in the tank. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and found Brad and Jon. Stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: A few minor things to improve on (T1, popping my chain, pushing it harder on the run) Event comments: A fun, local race that I'll most likely do next year. Course was fun and interesting and there were a lot of volunteers (that were super nice)! The giveaways were pretty good too...a sweatshirt, a few waterbottles and I heard they send us a DVD of the race. Overall, a great race to kick of the season! Last updated: 2006-05-14 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30 to load the car.
Ate english muffin w/ PB on the way (about 30 minutes to race site).
No real warm up. Ate a luna bar, a GU and drank some water. Set up transition area, got body marked and found my friend, Jon, from work.
