Event warmup:

Swam for 10 minutes before the start of the race, and stretched for awhile.

Comments:

The wave start was pretty bad, as for some reason my age group went almost last. I had to swim around so many older people in front of me, it was terrible.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster, and some how avoid the people infront of me from the slower waves.

Transition sucked, because this was a "clean transition" so we had to put our swim stuff into bags, and could not leave anything on the groud.
What would you do differently?:

not do this race again - they should provide people to put your items in the bags, like they do at full distance ironman.

the bike was pretty bad... I could not get my head in the game to speed up, and I had to pass so many people from the earlier waves. I ran into lots of people drafting and had to pass them as well. The course was pretty bad as the roads sucked. There were so many pot holes it was redic.

I liked a couple of the flat portions and a few of the down hills, but overall the bike course sucked.


What would you do differently?:

Not do this race again.

The transition was so far, and I really did not want to do the run... so I sat down to put on my shoes, and it felt like forever until I started going.

we also had to put our bike items into the bags, as again this was a "clean transition" so it took time to bag the items.
What would you do differently?:

try to work on going faster for transition.

I hated this run... when I started I felt a muscle pull and get really tight to i had to walk for nearly 2 miles until i was able to get the pain to go away. it took me ahile to get going... I ran a couple of good miles, but overall it was a bad effort, and a hard course.
What would you do differently?:

hopefully not have a leg issue, and actually run the entire time.

Warm down:

walked to Transition to get my gear... and sat by a tree in the shade for 45 minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my head was not in the game today, and I was definitely not trained to race a half ironman. I should train more then 4 days in a month before trying to attempt something like this again.

Event comments:

I don't know that I would do this race again. I did not like the point to point aspect. I also did not like the swim bike or run courses.

overall I felt like the course sucked, but it might have also been because I was not really ready to race.

Course: One loop bike course. there were some hills, and some points where gravel was there. Lots of potholes - I lost two water bottles during the first 20 miles due to the pot holes as they were unavoidable.
