Run
Comments: I felt really good the first 7 miles and kept all my mile splits within 7-8 seconds and all under 7 mins. My goal was to do that for 10 miles but the legs decided otherwise. Mile 8 was a 7:20 and I kept the remaining miles between a 7:13 and a 7:21. I was hoping for a better time but this wasn't too bad. This lets me know where I am at and how much work I have to do before the Mini Marathon in May. What would you do differently?: More longer tempo runs. This is where I have fallen short this year. I need to start doing my 8-10 mile tempo runs instead of my 3-6 mile tempo runs. It showed since my legs didn't want to go at race pace past 7 miles. Post race
Warm down: I walked back onto the race course to cheer on friends. Just kept walking to keep the legs loose. What limited your ability to perform faster: My weight. I have to lose the 15 lbs I have gained over the last 2 years when I was running better. Event comments: Very well organized but they need better food at the end. Nice tech shirt though. Lots of stretching.
Walked and ran 2 miles to get my legs warmed up. I have been having quad muscle issues and I find that walking a mile and then jogging a mile before a hard run helps.
