Total Time = 1h 32m 49s
Overall Rank = 163/962
Age Group = F 35-39
Age Group Rank = 5/47
Pre-race routine:

Up at 4-something for breakfast and coffee. The car was loaded so we all drove from Tim and Laura's to our parking lot and then rode to the race site.
Event warmup:

No real warm up. Had a lot of time. Set up transition. Chatted with friends. Laura and I were in a later wave so we were able to see Tim who raced elite come out of the water.
Swim
  • 15m 20s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 45s / 100 yards
Comments:

Joked with Kate Kenny that I'd hang on her feet for as long as I could. I think that lasted maybe 5 strokes. Made an effort to push the swim which I usually never do. Sighting was really good except for one buoy on the return trip. Felt like I had a pretty solid swim and took some time off from last year.
What would you do differently?:

Try to draft more
Transition 1
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Uneventful transition. Hustled as much as I could and saw a lot of bikes still on the rack which meant I had a good swim.

What would you do differently?:

Move faster - as ususal
Bike
  • 48m 34s
  • 15.72 miles
  • 19.42 mile/hr
Comments:

I always sandbag the bike and I really focused on keeping the gas on the entire time. Was nice to go hard. :)

What would you do differently?:

More intervals in training so this might not hurt as much.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Pulled into T2 to an empty rack which meant my bike was solid. :)
Switched shoes and grabbed everything else to put on while I ran (race belt, water bottle, visor).
What would you do differently?:

Learn to do a flying dismount.
Run
  • 25m 23s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

I could tell my legs were fried from pushing the bike. Held on and tried to keep a solid pace for as long as I could. It was hot and I kept dumping water over my head. Had two girls pass me on the run and as much as I wanted to go with them, I didn't have enough in my legs to follow them.
What would you do differently?:

Probably more bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some food and water and chatted with our crew while we waited for awards. I shaved a few minutes off my time from last year (where I ranked 4th in my AG) and still dropped an AG ranking. Sometimes it just depends on who shoes up that day.

Event comments:

This is always a well run race. Enjoyed the course, venue and company.
