Swim
Comments: Good swim except I could not get around the guy in front of me. Every time I tried, he moved sideways and blocked. Made me mad, but I knew he would beat be on bike and run. So I decided to try and draft off him. Would have easier if he had swam straight. I had never out swam him before, so would have been nice to pass him.Oh well. What would you do differently?: Pass him. Transition 1
Comments: Went well because not many others in T1 to have to maneuver around. What would you do differently?: Learn to start with shoes already attached to bike. Bike
Comments: Going up hills killed me since I live on an island. Going down hill was fun though. I hit 42.5 mph on one loop. 38+ on the other two. I am very aggressive on the downhills. Glad the roads were dry. I wanted to hit 29 minutes and only missed it by 6 seconds. What would you do differently?: Train more on our only bridge. Transition 2
Comments: Good except for quick laces missed the tongue of my shoe. I spent a second or so trying to fix and then just said oh well. I had the bike course at 9.6 miles. What would you do differently?: Remember where the run out is. Luckily my rack was right beside the bike in so I only ran a few yards the wrong way. Run
Comments: Could not run quite as fast as last week. My legs were fried from the hills on bike. I wish that they could get an out and back back course accurate. I had 2.75 and heard lots of others that had their Garmin in the same range. What would you do differently?: Practice more running on our only bridge. Post race
Warm down: None. Just walked around and talked to people. My legs are sore now from the hills and lack of cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hills, hills and more hills. Event comments: They need to make sure people that sign up in "Open" really belong there. There was a woman behind me that finished dead last in women's race and beat only an 81 year old man.I heard from lots of people that she clogged up the whole swim lanes. She took twice as long in pool as everyone else around her. They also need to get an accurate 5k. I have done this race several times and it has not been 5k yet. I do love racing with Setup. Other than these two things, they put on great races. Last updated: 2012-03-26 12:00 AM

Got up at 3:45 to drive up from Hilton Head. Gatorade bar and bottle of water on way up. Arrived at about 7:15 to set up stuff.
Swam 700 meters, rode a mile or two to make sure bike is in right gear for the uphill start. Ran a mile or so.
