Swim
Comments: Kinda got caught off guard and was lined up in the middle of the pack at start. This was unintential and proved to be costly due to the number of swimmers I had around me at the start. The first 200m, I was just trying to find some water to swim in instead of bodies and feet in my face. Couldn't seem to get away from everyone at all. I'm also still getting used to sighting in OW. Also, I did get a little panicky but I can always push through that and it didn't really last that long. The sighting and mild OW panic will get better as I get more OWS in, I'm sure. What would you do differently?: Line up a little differently and try to just fight through the mob. Maybe even swim my ass off to try and get away from some of the slower swimmers and then try to just settle in??? Get more OWS practice in. Transition 1
Comments: Almost fell off the bike while mounting out of T1...went to jump on bike and there was a slight incline and the bike was in too high a gear and I couldn't get it going. Fortunately I caught myself and re-mounted and got going with no real incident. What would you do differently?: put the bike in a smaller gear to spin up when getting on Bike
Comments: Had a good hard pace on the bike. My best avg pace to date here. Worked pretty hard to pass a few guys and keep em behind me. What would you do differently?: not much. Just need to keep improving my bike fitness. Transition 2
Comments: This went smoothly...no real problems here. What would you do differently?: not much Run
Comments: This was a pretty hot and hilly run course. I wasn't very prepared/acclimated to the high humidity and temp. Because of this, I didn't wanna push it real hard. Just tried to run at a good race pace and not try to kill it. What would you do differently?: run more in the afternoons. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat, humidity. OWS performance as a whole, I left a lot out there. Also Coulda pushed the run. If I'd swam what I'm capable of and ran just a little harder pace, looking at the results, I'd of probably had a top 10 AG finish. Lot of room for improvement, I'll keep working on it. Event comments: This was a great race. Very well organized, Great after party. Very good course. Heat and humidity was tough but not a controllable variable, so this race gets good marks. I will be back to attempt a PR. Last updated: 2012-03-26 12:00 AM
