Overall Rank = 113/378
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 13/27
Pre-race routine:

Walked around, did a minor amount of stretching. Nothing substantial.
Event warmup:

Ditto the pre-race routine. This was my first tri so I was just kind of winging it. I'll be refining things as time goes on.
Swim
  • 04m 40s
  • 273 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

This wasn't a great swim for me, but I've also been out of the water since, oh, March. =P
What would you do differently?:

Get my ass back in the pool, which I will be doing starting this week.
Transition 1
  • 02m 28s
Comments:

Aside from the guy who almost made me crash right as I got on the bike, I'd say it was good for my first ever transition.
What would you do differently?:

Bring flip-flops for a faster run out of the pool to transition, organize my transition area more efficiently.
Bike
  • 38m 39s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.63 mile/hr
Comments:

I went slower than I would have liked on the hill to avoid getting a drafting penalty. A lot of people were bunching up and obviously not passing each other. I decided to be cautious being that this was my first ever triathlon, but in retrospect, I could have blasted past them and still been fine for the running portion.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder on the hill.
Drink more fluids.
Bring a turkey leg.
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

I ran with shoes on, helmet on.
What would you do differently?:

Pick up some laces I can pull tight to avoid having to tie my shoes.
Run
  • 27m 16s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

After seeing my time I realized that I was moving faster than I thought, but my legs still didn't feel very good. I need to work on doing more bricks to strengthen my legs and condition them for the cycling/running transition.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more fluids and bring some packets to eat.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked around, drank about 16 ounces of water, ate a bagel, part of an orange, and a banana.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of hydration and being conservative on my first race.

Event comments:

I had a wonderful time! I met a few new people, had a great time during the race, and then a nice tasty meal after the race was over. I feel charged and ready for the next race, so I am very pleased!
