Swim
Comments: Swim was lengthened to 750 meters according to several gps readouts. I averaged 1:45 / 100m which was good for me. Could have been a little faster but some slow swimmers in my way and intense sunlight on the return portion of the swim made it difficult to be much faster than that for me. Still solid performance in the swim and I'll take it. What would you do differently?: Not much, maybe coulda went a little harder but the rest was really outta my control. Transition 1
Comments: Tried to mount the bike in Transition area...WTH was I thinking, in the process I knocked the water bottle (that I really didn't need) off of my rear cage. Still had a decent T1 time. I went sockless which was fine but I had some trouble getting my feet into the shoes out on the course. need to practice this some more. What would you do differently?: practice starting the bike with feet on top of shoes Bike
Comments: Really disappointed in my bike split for this race...I had trained hard on the bike and installed a new saddle just 2 days before the race. Had no bike taper at all and it showed big time in my bike split here. Unfortunately, this was a "C" race for me so I didn't allow for any taper. So it is what it is. I'm gonna say Good for overall bike performance but it was kinda "so-so" for me. shoulda been better. What would you do differently?: Should of easily been Top 20 overall and Top 5 AG with a better bike split that I know I'm capable of doing. More bike taper next time should equal much better results. Transition 2
Comments: Don't have fast laces for my shoes; had to stop and tie them What would you do differently?: get fast laces; probly woulda knocked :30 off my T2 Run
Comments: This was a good run for me. Happy with it. What would you do differently?: Not much...I pushed the run about as hard as I could. I was definitely red-lining at the end. Solid run though. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: No taper at all for the bike. Very little taper for swim and run. Event comments: This is a great race for a great cause. The course is fairly straight, flat and fast and makes for fun racing. The only way it could be better was if there was some post-race stuff but this is a real fund-raiser for an organization that really needs the funds so post-race stuff is not high on the agenda for the RD; which is fine...like I said it's a great race. Typical for me; ate a pop tart. Had a Hammer gel 30 min prior to race start.
Swam 200 meters.
