Run
Comments: Good run. My goal was 3:25. I knew it was a tough course, and I was looking at this as a good training run. Ran pretty comfortably, hit the half way in 1:39 and had a brief thought of trying to pick it up to try for 3:15. It lasted for about 1 mile, and then I thought better of it, and went back to a steady comfortable pace. Slowed a bit between 18-22 when the hills hit, but stayed fairly steady adn strong thru til the end. Felt decently the whole way. My quads were tired by the end from the downhills, but nothing too bad. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked around for 10 min, rushed back to the hotel for a shower. They had great chocolate smoothies/shakes which were great. What limited your ability to perform faster: hills were pretty tough Event comments: This was a good small town race. It was based in a retirement community, which I thought was odd. Everything went very smoothly. Packet ppick up was fine. Events started on time. We got lucky with the weather. They were calling for rain and mid 40s temps. The rain held off with only very slight drizzle around mile 20 or so, I never really even noticed it. The course was tough, not unbearable, though. I was a bit disappointed in the scenery. Lots and lots of fields, which I get at home, and several Amish families out cheering. It seemed more of a novelty than anything else. Post-race activities were fine. I didn't stick around for much. I took the family to Hershey, PA afterwards and we had a afternoon there. I'm glad I did this race, but I wouldn't do it again , just because it was very dull - the course, scenery, surrounding area. Nothing bad about it either, but nothing was fantastic. Last updated: 2012-04-01 12:00 AM
