Total Time = 1h 31m 52s
Overall Rank = 13/17
Age Group = Open
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Woke up and had a piece of toast. Drove down to Hazelwood.
Event warmup:

Swam a few strokes to make sure I wouldn't drown and that I do still float. That was about it!
Swim
  • 09m 30s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 54s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good swim - longest I've done yet in a race. Wasn't the last in which was good. Arms started to get sore about 300m in but I think it's still wettie fit.
What would you do differently?:

Need to get better at breathing on RHS - turned a little with each breath. Didn't turn much on LHS. Also need to get in water earlier to fix wettie up.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Removed cap and goggles and left in RH arm of wettie - no need to carry! Had to take Garmin off to get wettie off - wasn't going to try then get stuck. Put shoes on before leaving as the start is uphill a bit and didn't think I'd have time to get my feet in and put the power down.
What would you do differently?:

Put garmin on before wettie so I can get wettie off.
Bike
  • 51m 13s
  • 24 kms
  • 28.12 km/hr
Comments:

Good ride. Caught Anna up first hill. Rest of ride was alright - still hurt. Got into a good rythem just near the end of the 2nd lap.
What would you do differently?:

Carbon seatpost...rough roads hurt with aluminium wheels, aluminium bike and aluminium seatpost!
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Fast transition (I thought). A little sketchy trying to come around the gravel corner and get my feet out, but didn't come off. Jumped off bike, ran in, racked, got my shit sorted then ran out - felt pretty quick!
What would you do differently?:

Learn to get my feet out faster. Had velcro undone on the road (a bit early too) but left feet in because of the speed bump.
Run
  • 29m 9s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 50s  min/km
Comments:

Started off a little slow - trying to get into a rythem. Managed to run all the way up the hill. Smashed it on the way down and into the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder at the start - felt I could have gone a little quicker. Did a 5:50 for the first k then 6:02 or something for the second.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around lots.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fitness! Also wetsuit fit a little in the water. Rough road.

Event comments:

Great, friendly race. Very relaxed but also well run.
