Pre-race routine:

Was very jittery and nervous. Arrived at venue early and got an excellent parking spot. Got my cap and number and settled in at the bleachers. Met a nice guy who flew out from New York last year for the event and now lives here. Small talk helped alleviate jitters.

Event warmup:

Did not do a warm up. Talked with other racers and listened to briefing from the announcer instead.

Comments:

The swim was great, no problems, no worries (once I got moving). Sighting would of been better if I had n't listened to a lady I met on the ferry who said to sight of an apartment building on shore. I did so only to find I was way off course half way across. Should have sighted off Koit tower until I could see the Balclutha. The buoys on the boat were not visible to the back of the pack until you were right on top of them at the end of the race.
Took my time and stopped to check out the views a couple of times. I love the Bay Area!
What would you do differently?:

I wont wear the free wet suit from TNT anymore. It took a chunk out of my neck last weekend and this time I got chaffed on the sides of my shoulder blades which was a first. Piece of junk suit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Did n't really make much effort for speed...next time.

Event comments:

The food went fast and I should n't have lollygagged in getting over to food and drink. Warm chowder was gone by the time I got there. I was bummed.

Course: Was a great day. Weather was perfect. No choppy swells like on practice swim which meant no sea sickness/dizziness. I got on the ferry and went to top deck to enjoy the view then stopped to watch people jumping off the ferry for a while, so I was one of the last off the ferry which was a mistake. I had just cleared the back of the ferry when the start horn blew so I was no where near the start line when the race began (~300 feet back and not acclimated to the water yet).
