Swim
Comments: I noticed someone right next to me the first few hundred yards. Usually no on keeps up with me initially, so i decided to drop in behind him and let him do all the work. It turns out it was Oscar Godoi, who is a very good swimmer. My arms were pretty tired from Point to la pointe (swim race) the day before, so this was very fortunate for me. On top of that I was wearing new goggles that i will not wear again, so on the way back in toward the beach (directly into the sun) I could not sight a thing. SO I was so happy to just sit right behind him. I learned how long it is shallow from the amount of people that were walking probably 400 yds during the shortcourse. so i did many dolphin dives to finish out the swim before i stood up and tried to run. What would you do differently?: Nothing. well maybe hire Oscar to swim in front of me at all races. Transition 1
Comments: this was a long narrow transition. overall i cant complain Bike
Comments: My bike pace was slower than expected, but from the look of the results so were everyone else's. The top bike pace was 23.8. so I think the wind affected everyone. On top of that there was a stretch of road that was by far the bumpiest road , I have raced on. It made Lifetime look like a freshly paved road. SO that slowed everyone down also. What would you do differently?: I think i performed as well as expected , given the conditions. Same a every other race, i just need to get better on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Had to avoid short course racers getting their bikes out of transition. It really would help if race organizers separated short course from long course in transition. Run
Comments: I pushed it but not too hard with it being mostly up hill for the first half. I wanted to save some legs to finish strong. This was the coolest temperature race for over a month. that and going downhill the last 2 miles made it by far my fastest run this season. What would you do differently?: Not much. Continue to work on speed. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike strength, especially into a headwind. Event comments: The random race numbers made for a hectic transition. Also not having a loudspeaker that the swimmers could hear to start was pretty amatuerish. Overall it was a fun race, but i think that is because i performed well and finsihed strong as opposed to blowing up. Last updated: 2012-04-03 12:00 AM
